transbay competition on display

It was the first time i had ever been inside city hall. impressive as any city halls should be. the grand stairs reminded me of the opera house in paris.

Being that the transbay competition design proposals and models from Richard Rogers, SOM and Pelli are being displayed for ONE DAY ONLY at city hall today, hak, aim + i went leave work early to check it out while we had the chance. we ran into klye glenn and david choo who were also at city hall.

It will be a tough decision for the committee to choose the winner and no doubt there will be an onslaught of controversy. if the san franciscans thought the First & Mission project towers by Renzo are too tall, what will they say about these transbay towers, all monstrously shooting towards the sky way above Renzo's building.

Such a shame that Calatrava dropped out primarily because of the inability for agreements regarding, not surprising: $ issues with Boston Properties. i know that most of the people i spoke with was betting on Calatrava to win the competition even before the designs were released yesterday.

holiday in cabo - flight 214

06.09.2007
On our way...
we went on a much needed holiday in cabo before hak starts his new job. it was nothing but sun, fun and relaxation for a whole week. even though, i wouldn't have mind getting on the BA 284 flight to london. i do miss visiting that city!

do-it-yourself project

BEFORE - arch door way on the right is to the bedroom.

hak refused to hire a contractor to put the door in for the bedroom. a door we bought earlier this year in jan or feb? who can squeeze in all the to-do's in life and get them all done in a timely manner anymore? he finally had time to put in the door frame and built out the necessary step. still more work to do but at least we have the door up and functioning!

daily breakfast

hak makes me breakfast every morning. [yes, i'm spoiled and oh such a blessed woman.] this is what my breakfast typically looks like on weekdays. quick and easy with minimal mess. my fav - a cup of hot joe and a ham sandwich on toast, with the sides cut off just like how the chinese + japanese bakeries do it. yum! on the weekends, if i'm lucky and if we have the ingredients, he makes a mean omlete or scramble. beats anything at Chloe's in noe valley any day.
